HIGH VOLUME VS CALORIE DENSE FOODS

The only way to lose weight is to be in a calorie deficit (meaning, eat less calories than you burn) and the opposite applies for putting on weight (eat more calories than you burn).

Do you struggle to stick to a calorie deficit or surplus due to hunger levels? A factor to consider is the types of foods you're consuming.

If you're in a calorie deficit and your diet is made up of calorie dense foods you're not going to be optimising hunger satisfaction, hence the inability to stick to the calorie deficit.

My recommendation would be to swap out these calorie dense foods with lower calorie options that are also considered to be high in volume such as strawberries or pumpkin. These types of foods will help satisfy your hunger levels without the additional calories.

Again, the opposite would apply to someone who is trying to gain weight. If you're constantly feeling really full and eating high volume foods, maybe switch some these foods out for more calorie dense/less volume options such as peanut butter, olive oil or high calorie foods.
